Whooo! Happy late memorial day! <3 I spent the weekend working (40% off the whole store brings a lot of costumers. And the better part of Monday eating, sleeping, and swimming. Altogether it was an absolutely glorious weekend.

I spent today with my cousin, first a little trip to the mall and then to a fabulous coffee lab in Old Town, where we ate and played a very competitive game of scrabble. That was a lie, we didn't even keep score overall another wonderful day of summer. With many more to come. xD 

Have you guys met my child? I don't think so. ^That lovely dachshund is my pup Chloe. She's honestly the sweetest thing and ran up to me while I was taking pictures. In this particular shot she decided to randomly dig both of her back legs into my side. I think she might be a bit camera shy. xD

Unfortunately I missed out on seeing this movie when it was in theatres. So, I had to wait patiently for the movei to come out on video. It was only just recently that I had the wonderful joy of watching it with my friend a few weekends ago. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait. If you don't believe me. Here's some pretty eyecandy: 

They Eddie Redmayne plays the very handsome and naive Colin Clark, in this film. The chemistry between him and Michelle Williams (Marilyn) is perfection. Not to mention that Michelle's portrayal of Marilyn is spot on, honestly I don't have the words to adequately describe how capturing she was as this character. I believed every absurd word that came out of her mouth as pure sincerity.  
  I won't give much away, but I will say that there wasn't a bad actor in sight. Judi Dench (a long time favorite of mine) delivered her role with the genuine and sweetness of a lady, the same goes for Emma Watson. Although, it's still going to take a while not to immediately think Hermione! every time I see her face on camera. If you haven't had a chance to see the movie. Go. Stop what you're doing and watch it. It is rated R for some Marilyn booty and a few curse words, so if that's a turn off, you've been warned. ;)

What's a nickname only your family calls you?  My mama calls me Deannalinda, or Deannasita, it's a spanish thing. ;) My dad used to call be booboo, but he hasn't done that in a while. 

What's a weird habit of yours? Nail biting and lip gnawing... it needs to stop! Oh, also! I sing, all the time, without even noticing. 

Do you have any weird phobias? To be completely honest I'm kind of afraid of the dark. xD 

What's a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you're alone? I've always prided myself in having impeccable taste in music so this confession may hurt my pride.... here we go. Boyfriend! There I said it, I like to listen to the biebs. 

What's one of your biggest pet peeves? When girls make boys do tasks for them just because they can... also when people don't say thank you. 

What's one of your nervous habits? Playing with my hair, and laughing. Yeah, I'm the nervous giggler don't judge. 

What side of the bed do you sleep on? Side? You mean the whole bed isn't just for me?... Awk. ;)

What was your first stuffed animal and it's name? A bear, named Rosie, and I still got her. 

What's the drink you always order at Starbucks? Iced coffee, extra shot of espresso, no sweetener, 2% milk. xD 

What's a beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice. Uh... None? XD I don't really practice or preach beauty rules... lolol. 

Which way do you face in the shower? I actually have this thing where I turn around in the shower until I get dizzy... then I face away from the water. Is that weird? Nah. 

Do you have any weird body skills? My elbows hyper extend. 

What's your favorite comfort food that's "bad", but you love to eat it anyways? Chocolate Ganache, I have made myself bowls and eaten the entire thing on numerous occasion... Also ramen, I love me some ramen.

What's a phrase or exclamation you always say? "Awk." I use it alll the time. 

Time to sleep, what are you actually wearing? Nothing Some shirt, tank, and sweat pants, or boxer shorts. Real classy, yo.

What did you use to wear that you thought was cool but now you realize it wasn't that hot? Everything. Striped socks up to my knees, the skinniest jeans you've ever seen. I used to where the vest that made my boobs look HUUUGE every day... yeah. We got rid of that vest.

{schools out for the summer}

Hola!! So, schools out! You know what that means? Blogging galore! I really want to get back into the habit of blogging at least three times a week. Except I probably just jinxed myself by saying that. Anyways, I've had a really fabulous first few days of summer, and I'm really excited to blog about all the fun summer plans I've got in store! -eek!-
But here's is the first official outfit post of the summer. So very appropriately it's full of summer colors... Not. 
 
There really are not that many outfit details for this post. Everything was thrifted except the denim shirt is from American Eagle 2012. 
 
Hope you enjoy today's outfit! <3 Oh. Guess what? I'M DONE WITH HIGHSCHOOL!! haha, I'll post my thoughts on that later.

{thoughts on life}

It's a strange feeling, being almost done with highschool, and taking college classes. It's like I've got a foot in two different dimensions. Finding time to blog has gotten ridiculously hard. I'm starting to devise a bit of a plan, a schedule if you will. I had one, but then school started and you know how that goes...

I guess I just feel the need to process this ending chapter in my life. Growing up is just a phenomenon to me. You never realize that it's happening until you look back and compare who you were to who you are. There are times when I look at the road ahead and I can't wait to go. Leave home, start my own life. but sometimes there's that insatiable urge to never grow up. If only I could find the second star to the right and straight on till morning. If only Neverland existed.

The idea of saying goodbye to my friends, is terrifying. These people have influenced me, and loved me in ways I am eternally thankful for.

Of course I know... "This is not the end" No, it's not. Only, sometimes if feels that way. Yet,among the apprehension, joy, excitement, and of course fear, I feel thankful. Thankful that I have hope, I have optimism, that the world is filled with beautiful things and beautiful people. Thankful for a God that would rather die than live without me. Thankful that that God created me, thought me up, knows me better than my limited conscious could know or recognize myself. Thankful that the world is sprinkled with kindred spirits, artists. There is so much good in the world, I can't bare to forget it.

So. Here's to the kids of my generation. According to facebook even our peers are "disappointed" with us. Let's prove them wrong.

See that beautiful girl up there? It's my sister.Who just happens to have a whole lot of God given talent. She's an independent musician and You can find her EP album on itunes here!

She just came out with a new single called SWIM! Accompanied by this music video!

We're super excited about, if you see it tell me what you think! The funny thing is that it was actually super cold outside when we shot the video. We were all freezing, so props to the guy who jumped in the pool!

Hey guys! So I haven't blogged in a few days. Because... FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL....yayyyy! So guess what!? Everyone in my Eng 101/102 class gets a google chromebook for the semester. Coolbeans, right? It's going to be my toy for the semester. So far it's been an.... adjustment. The whole thing is browser based so the computer doesn't function properly unless you've got wifi... This makes me a little nervous, but I've got a good wifi connection so I should be fine, right? Let's hope so. ;]

I think once I get used to working in the google cloud, I'll really like it.

Hey guys! So, I just bought this dress at H&M and it's now one of my favorites. It's so comfortable, and it's easy to dress up or down. The color is also wonderful. ;]

Speaking of H&M every time I go in that store I walk through the men's section. Is it sad that the only reason I would want a boyfriend at this point in my life would be so that he could dress well and then stand next to me?... don't answer that. But seriously, the male mannequin's in that store dress preeeety well.

So, for Christmas my sister got one of her all time favorite movies: Once. Now, I'd heard her raving about it for quite a while. A few days after Christmas I finally got around to watching it with her. All I can say is, wow. 

You know when you're watching a really good music video, (you know, the kind with a great story line) and the music is lovely and the cinematography is captivating. The only bad thing is that when it's over you're left wishing it was longer. That's how Once was, except an entire movie, with some of the best music I've heard in a while. 

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova do such a great job on camera. Each scene is so genuine, you feel like you're peaking in on real life moments. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. I have to give a quick disclaimer there is quite  a bit of language in the film. Although, half the time I couldn't catch it through the accents.

If you've seen this movie before, what did you think? If not, check it out. If you listened to the song, how can you not. ;] Either way let me know.

Both of these pieces still bring tears to my eyes. Watching a girl devoted to Christ and the gifts that he's instilled in her is so beautiful.

Hey guys! This is the first (of many) outfits of this year! That shirt is probably one of my favorites right now. I wore this outfit on new year's day, but internet has been acting up so I haven't had a chance to post until now. 

Since I live in the middle of the desert it's basically summer all year long. New Year's day was HOT can you believe it? I regretted wearing a cardigan most of the day. BTW The left hand picture is a bit awkward, but most of them were bad because it was windy and I was too lazy to take a lot of pictures. xDD

A good fiend of mine works for a design firm and they're constantly throwing away fabric samples, she feels terrible putting them in the trash so she's given them to me. Take a peak at these beautiful samples!

Aren't these absolutely amazing. So, I've been meaning to make some pillows, but aside from that I've absolutely no idea what to do with them! So I'm asking you guys for...
 But seriously, I'm looking for ideas here! The fabric pieces are too small to make any clothing, and it's all upholstery so that probably wouldn't work anyways... so do you guys have any ideas? Thanks!

{awkward & awesome}

Allow me to explain, this idea originates from the wonderful blog The Day Book, basically list a few awkward things from this week, and then a few awesome things. Simple? Yeah, pretty much. LET'S DO DIS! Did I just say that with a gangsta accent? Yeah. I got major rep yo. Anyyyyways. With out much further ado, I present to you... drum roll please... This weeks awkward and awesome! 

{awkward}
{ONE} So, I recently spent the night at my friends house, unfortunately she had to work in the morning. Early in the morning. She and her father carpool to work (minors, we're poor so we don't have cars or gas money) they kindly offered to give me a ride on the way to work, which I accepted. What I didn't know is that they were going to pull my groggy bottom to starbucks on the way. So there we are the three of us, in starbucks. Both of these people were dressed in pretty business-y attire, and of course I looked something like this. I suppose things could be worse we could have run into people we knew... Oh wait, that's exactly what happened. Yes, we ran into one of the deans at our church. He was kind enough enough to only give me one strange look before entering into normal small talk. Being half asleep I said about two words during the whole interaction. Cool beans, it wasn't awkward or anything. 

{TWO} This morning I picked up cat poop... With my bare hands. Needless to say it was dark, I thought it was something else, and I spent at least fifteen minutes washing my hands this morning. 

{THREE} This happened a while ago, but I still thought it was pretty funny. I was at my church on Sunday looking for a lady that I was supposed to sing with the following week. She told me to meet her in one of the classrooms, I of course wrote down which class room... That's a lie, I did not do that. So come Sunday I barged into a room filled with third graders. There was literally that moment where all the chairs squeak and every person in the classroom stared at me. I awkwardly mumbled an apology and backed out of the room. Who new third graders could look so lethal when you interrupted their bible story.

{ONE} Christmas. Do I really need to say anything more? I don't think so.

Anyways, I'm spending the day having Christmas with my best friend and then off to a birthday party. Hope you all have a good day! What is your awkward and awesome?

{i have a thing for checklists}

Is it sad that my favorite Christmas gift so far has been my day planner? Eh, probably. Lately I've sort of become obsessed with checklists. There's nothing like that feeling of having every item on my "to do" list crossed off. Do I take too much pride in the simple action of checking off a box? Yes. And you know what? I'm okay with that.
I've also been using notebooks to write everything blog related, I've got a whole page stored up with post ideas that I can use when I don't know what to write about. I am one organized happy camper! That is until school starts, but that's weeks away. >.< Today I sat down with my mom and had her help me work out my class schedule for next semester. She is a saint. I'm actually feeling pretty on top of things at the moment, which is a bit of a surprise.  

Listening to music also helps me with organizing... actually I'm not sure if that's true. But I it helps me not become bored out of my mind. I find that my mind calms down when there's background noise. Currently listening to this nonstop. 

So, how about you guys? Checklists. Do you feel like the aid or deter you? Do you find it comforting to have a list of things to do, or simply stressful? Happy Blogging!

Hello. This is my first outfit post on this blog! -eek!- I'm not going to have a strict schedule for posting outfits, but I'm expecting to get one up about every two weeks. YAY! Anyways I really don't have too much to say other than the fact that I've been planning on this for so long that I'm just soooo happy to finally be doing it!

Also, tell me what do you think about the first photo? I'd seen a similar concept of folding clothes & accessories then taking a shot of them on tumblr. I figured it'd be a fun way to start all of my outfit posts. Do you guys agree? I hope you're having a great day!

{well hello there}

I'm Deanna, and this is my blog. If you followed me over from "Barefoot Love" then YAY! You already know me! If not, then it's nice to meet you. ;] I decided to start a new blog, it'll be pretty close the old one just a little more structured... at least that's the plan. xD

First of all I'm starting something called "Of the Month" basically on the first day of every month I choose a blog, tumblr, and artist (singer, writer, designer, visual artist etc.) that have inspired me during the past month. If you'd like to nominate someone don't hesitate to e-mail me at sweethappenstance@gmail.com ;] I'm extremely excited about this part of my blog, I think it'll be a fun way to support young artists, and possibly give them some hype!

Another thing I am adding to this blog I hadn't had at my old one was -drum roll please- Street Fashion! I won't be able to start right away, but I hope to do a Street Fashion post the second Monday of every month. I'm a bit nervous of approaching people on the Street, or going all covert operations and sneaking pictures of strangers. -stalker much?-

And last but not least I plan on keeping a Visual Diary on this blog. I always have tons of artistic photos and I have no idea what to do with them. So whenever I have something worth contributing I'll be posting a lot of my (amateur)photography on the blog.

I'm also planning on trying a few other blog features, but I'm really looking forward to a much more structured version of my old blog. Happy Blogging!
